6 Web Design Tips to Increase Conversions

Improving site conversion is an issue that many business websites struggle with. This is mainly because of their understanding of what ultimately affects a sites ability to convert. Website design is an integral aspect of conversion rates. There are so many elements that one can add to his or her website if their ultimate objective is to improve the way that site converts.

In this particular article we’ll be looking closely at the many things that you can implement on your site to make it more efficient.

  1. Content Placement

With the enhancements in web technologies, we’ve seen a rapid convergence between SEO and UX, so much so, that where you choose to position your content can have huge ramifications on how well it converts.

If you want to get the best possible conversions, then you’ll want to position your most crucial content above the fold. That way, you can be sure that the visitor will see the content before anything else. By positioning such content above the fold, visitors do not need to scroll down to see the service or product that you’re tailoring to them.

  1. Large Bold Typography

In the past couple of years, we’ve witnessed a massive adoption of large and bold letters in website design, and for the most part, it has been largely successful.

One of the more effective ways of boosting your brand is through the use of typography, when you choose to use large bold typography on your site, you are setting yourself up for some excellent results.

The main reason why that is so, is because they tend to be much easier for the visitor to read and understand, and are more likely to grab the attention of whomever is on your site.

If you are able to grab visitor’s attention, then your next step would be to provide them with additional information about your service or product, which will ultimately improve conversions.

  1. Utilisation of Negative Space

In website design, both negative space and whitespace are used interchangeably, as they refer to the empty areas of the site. Ultimately, negative space or whitespace is one of the more crucial areas of the site, because when used effectively, it can make a website more readable and accessible.

When we talk about negative space, we are referring to the spaces between the different elements on the page, like the space between the content and its header, or the space between the content and your sidebar. It also refers to the space between the texts itself, such as paragraphs and the space between standard lines of text.

When you give this aspect of your site enough attention, it can help to make your site more readable and scan-able, which is a good thing. You want people to be able to get the gist of your site, with very little effort on their part.

  1. Use Testimonials

The use of testimonials is another great way for you to boost your sites conversion rate. Studies have shown that close to 40% of potential clients consider testimonials to be a very important aspect in their decision making process.

In addition to them improving your sites conversion, testimonials also help to improve click through rates, help with SEO and can also be used on social media platforms, when directing users to your site.

  1. Keep It Simple

When attempting to drive as much conversions to your site as possible, simplicity has to be one of, if not the most important factor. For this reason, you want to go with a website design that is simple.

You should always be looking at ways of making your site more simplistic, so think about what elements are required, and which are not.

When you have a simplistically designed website, it makes for a more functional website. Visitors will naturally have less difficulty navigating through the site – ultimately enhancing their UX.

The positive side effects of an excellent UX, is improved conversions, so that’s something to always look at.

Apple are the best example of this reality, as they focus and fixate on simplicity in everything that they do, and they are naturally rewarded for it.

  1. Create Dedicated Landing Pages

If you are using PPC, like Google Ads, or advertising your site using social media networks, then it’s in your best interest to use dedicated landing pages for every campaign you create. The best landing pages are those that are simple, but include all the elements of a landing page. You also want to minimise navigation, so that visitors are not distracted by other things going on, on your page. This way, you can ensure that your campaign will achieve its desired result, whether it be, download a program or sign up to a mailing list.

When you create landing pages that are dedicated, it also grants you more control over the content. When you opt to create individual landing pages for every campaign you create, you can finely tune things, for the type(s) of visitors that you expect to visit the page.
